Inserting SMART Response or Senteo Questions into a Page

SMART Response (formerly Senteo) interactive response system is an assessment tool designed to enhance learning. It enables you to ask your students questions and collect the results. You can create a SMART Response software question set using SMART Notebook.

NOTE: Although you can create question sets using standard SMART Notebook software, you must install SMART Response software on your computer to run a question set. For more information on SMART Response assessment software, see the Help for your version of SMART Response:

 

To insert a SMART Response title page

  1. Create a new page or display an existing blank page.

  2. Select Insert > SMART Response Title Page.

An Insert Title Page dialogue box appears.

  1. Type a Title, Subject and Topic.

  1. Select an assessment type.

OR

Select Custom from the Type list, enter a type and press OK.

  1. Press Add.

To insert SMART Response questions on a page

  1. Select Insert > SMART Response Question.

    The Insert Question dialogue box appears.

  2. Click the thumbnail of the question type that you want to add and then click Next.

  3. Type the question in the text box.

  4. If you use tags to create categories in your reports, type them in the Tags box using the examples and then click Next.

  5. For number, fraction or expression questions, type the correct answer or select the Opinion option.

    For multiple choice or multiple answer questions, select the number of answers, type the answers in the text boxes, click Next and then select the correct answers or the Opinion option.

    For text answer questions, type one to four acceptable answers or select the Opinion option.

    NOTE: Text answer questions are case-sensitive. You can enter up to four answers to support different capitalisations (for example, “iron”, “Iron” and “IRON”).

    For number, fraction or expression questions, use the expression editor to create the expression question and then use the editor to create a correct expression answer.

    NOTE: SMART Response’s intelligent expression grading feature compares the student responses to the correct expression answer to determine whether it’s equivalent based on the Intelligent Grading settings that you define.

  6. Type the number of points the student receives for a correct answer.

    TIP: The value can be a whole or decimal number.

  7. If you want to create more questions, click Insert Another and then repeat steps 2 to 6.

  8. Click Finish.

  9. Optionally, use SMART Notebook’s tools to add images or Adobe Flash Player compatible files from the Gallery.
