Getting started with your SMART Board M600 series interactive whiteboard

Using your SMART Board M600 series interactive whiteboard, you can write, draw and erase digital ink, manipulate objects and browse content on the screen.

Writing, drawing and erasing digital ink

Using the Floating Tools toolbar (see Using the Floating Tools toolbar) and the interactive whiteboard pen, you can write or draw digital ink.

ClosedTo write or draw digital ink

  1. Press PenPen icon in the Floating Tools toolbar.

  2. Pick up the interactive whiteboard pen.

  3. Write or draw on the screen.

    Tip 

    Don’t rest your elbow or the palm of your hand on the screen while you’re writing.

ClosedTo erase digital ink

  1. Press EraserEraser icon in the Floating Tools toolbar, and then select one of the available eraser sizes.

  2. Move your finger over the digital ink you want to erase.

Manipulating objects

Objects include icons, buttons, links and other components of programs that appear on your screen. You can manipulate these objects using your interactive whiteboard as described below.

Note 

Some applications and operating systems don’t support all of the gestures described below.

ClosedTo select or clear the selection of an object

ClosedTo double-click an object

ClosedTo Control-click an object

ClosedTo move an object

  1. Press and hold the object.

  2. Keeping your finger on the object, slowly move the object.

  3. When you reach the position you want to move the object to, release your finger.

    Note 

    If you press and hold an object, and then quickly flick your finger in any direction, the object continues to move after you release it.

ClosedTo resize an object

  1. Using one finger on each hand, press the screen at opposite ends of the object.

  2. Drag your fingers away from each other to increase the object’s size.

    Scale (enlarge) gesture

    OR

    Drag your fingers toward each other to decrease the object’s size.

ClosedTo rotate an object

  1. Using one finger on each hand, press the screen at opposite ends of the object.

  2. Rotate your fingers in the direction you want to rotate the object.

  3. When you reach the angle you want to rotate the object to, release your fingers.

Browsing

In addition to manipulating objects, you can browse content on your screen.

Note 

Some applications and operating systems don’t support all of the gestures described below.

ClosedTo zoom in or out

  1. Using one finger on each hand, press the screen at opposite ends.

  2. Drag your fingers away from each other to zoom in.

    Drag your fingers toward each other to zoom out.

ClosedTo pan

  1. Using two fingers on the same hand, press and hold the screen.

  2. Keeping your fingers on the screen, move up, down, left or right.

  3. When you reach the area you want to view, release your fingers.
