Configuring the Display Controller settings

You can use Display Controller settings right from the interactive screen to help preserve your projector lamp. When your screen saver activates, the display controller turns off the projector lamp or display after a specified time. When you touch the interactive screen or move the mouse, the display controller turns the projector lamp or flat-panel display back on.

For a display controller to work, you’ll need:

To configure Communication Control settings

  1. Select Start > All Programs > SMART Technologies > SMART Tools.

  2. Open Product Drivers Display Controller, and then select the Communication Control tab.

  3. Select Use a serial port, and then select the Manufacturer and the Model of your projector or flat-panel display, and then the Communications Port on your computer to which you’ve connected the serial cable.

    OR

    Select Use Network, and then enter the IP address in the appropriate field.

  4. Select Apply.

  5. Specify how long you want the projector or display to wait after the screen saver activates before turning off.

  6. If you want the projector or the display to turn off when you put the computer on standby, select that option.

  7. Press Apply.

To configure Power Control

  1. Select Start > All Programs > SMART Technologies > SMART Tools.

  2. Open Product Drivers Display Controller, and then select the Power Control tab.

  3. Optionally, select to enable the following power control options:

    • Turn off the display when the screen saver starts

    • Delay between when the screen saver starts and when the display turns off

    • Turn off the display when the computer enters sleep mode

    • Turn off the display when the computer turns off

  4. Close the Display Controller settings.
