Changing pen, eraser and button settings

You can write and erase notes in digital ink on your interactive product’s screen using the pen tray pens and eraser (on interactive whiteboards and interactive displays with pens and erasers), the pencils (on interactive displays with pencils) or the pen tool (on interactive pen displays). You can change the following settings for these tools:

To change pen settings

  1. Press the SMART Board icon in the notification area, and then select Control Panel.

    Note 

    If your computer isn’t currently connected to an interactive product, the SMART Board icon includes an X in its lower-right corner .

  2. Press SMART Hardware Settings.

    If your computer is connected to more than one interactive product, the upper area of the control panel displays an image for each product. Press the image of the product you want to change settings for.

  3. Select Pen and Button Settings in the drop-down list.

  4. Press the button for the pen you want to customize.

    The Properties dialog box appears.

  5. Press Line Style.

  6. Adjust the color, thickness, line end and line style.

    Tip 

    When choosing a color, you can press the eyedropper to select a color on the screen.

  7. Press Fill Effects.

  8. Adjust the transparency.

  9. Press Save Tool Properties to save your settings.

  10. Repeat steps 4 through 9 if you want to customize other pens.

  11. Press OK to close the control panel.

To change eraser settings

  1. Press the SMART Board icon in the notification area, and then select Control Panel.

    Note 

    If your computer isn’t currently connected to an interactive product, the SMART Board icon includes an X in its lower-right corner .

  2. Press SMART Hardware Settings.

    If your computer is connected to more than one interactive product, the upper area of the control panel displays an image for each product. Press the image of the product you want to change settings for.

  3. Select Pen and Button Settings in the drop-down list.

  4. Press Eraser Settings .

  5. Select an eraser size.

  6. Press OK to save your settings.

  7. Press OK to close the control panel.

To change button settings

  1. Press the SMART Board icon in the notification area, and then select Control Panel.

    If your computer isn’t currently connected to an interactive product, the SMART Board icon includes an X in its lower-right corner .

  2. Press SMART Hardware Settings.

  3. Select Pen and Button Settings in the drop-down list.

  4. Press Button Settings .

  5. Select settings for each button.

  6. Press OK to save your settings.

  7. Press OK to close the control panel.

To change pencil settings

  1. Press the SMART Board icon in the notification area, and then select Control Panel.

    Note 

    If your computer isn’t currently connected to an interactive product, the SMART Board icon includes an X in its lower-right corner .

  2. Press SMART Hardware Settings.

    If your computer is connected to more than one interactive product, the upper area of the control panel displays an image for each product. Press the image of the product you want to change settings for.

  3. Select Pen and Button Settings in the drop-down list.

  4. Press the button for the pencil you want to customize.

    The Properties dialog box appears.

  5. Press Line Style.

  6. Adjust the color, thickness, line end and line style.

    Tip 

    When choosing a color, you can press the eyedropper to select a color on the screen.

  7. Press Fill Effects.

  8. Adjust the transparency.

  9. Press Save Tool Properties to save your settings.

  10. Repeat steps 4 through 9 if you want to customize other pencils.

  11. Select Pencil to allow users to use the pencils and, optionally, select the Enable Finger/Stylus touch check box to also allow users to also use their fingers or styluses.

    OR

    Select Stylus/Finger only to allow users to use their fingers or styluses only.

  12. Press OK to close the control panel.

To change eraser settings

  1. Press the SMART Board icon in the notification area, and then select Control Panel.

    Note 

    If your computer isn’t currently connected to an interactive product, the SMART Board icon includes an X in its lower-right corner .

  2. Press SMART Hardware Settings.

    If your computer is connected to more than one interactive product, the upper area of the control panel displays an image for each product. Press the image of the product you want to change settings for.

  3. Select Pen and Button Settings in the drop-down list.

  4. Press the button for the eraser you want to customize.

    The Properties dialog box appears.

  5. Select an eraser size.

  6. Press OK to save your settings.

  7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 if you want to customize the erasers on the other pencils.

  8. Press OK to close the control panel.

To change pen settings

  2. Press SMART Hardware Settings.

  3. Select Pen and Button Settings in the drop-down list.

  4. Press the button for the pen tool you want to customize.

  5. Press Line Style.
