Activating SMART Notebook software

Typically, you activate SMART Notebook software after installing it. However, in some situations, you activate the software later. For example, you could be evaluating the software before deciding to purchase it.

Obtaining a product key

Register your SMART hardware product to obtain a product key for SMART Notebook software.

OR

Purchase a product key from your authorized SMART reseller (smarttech.com/wheretobuy).

Tips 

To register your SMART hardware product

  1. Locate your SMART hardware product’s serial number.

    Note 

    See smarttech.com/serialnumber for information on locating your SMART hardware product’s serial number.

  2. Go to smarttech.com/registration.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to register your SMART hardware product.

Activating SMART Notebook software with a product key

After obtaining a product key, you can activate SMART Notebook software.

To activate SMART Notebook software

  1. In SMART Notebook software, select Help > Activate Software.

    The SMART Software Activation window appears.

    Notes 

    • Alternatively, you can open the SMART Software Activation window from SMART Product Update (SPU) by pressing Activate in the SMART Notebook row.

    • The value in the Status column indicates the status for each product:

      Installed

      The software is installed.

      Activated

      The software is installed and activated with a perpetual license.

      Expiring

      The software is installed but not yet activated. The number in parentheses indicates the days remaining in the evaluation period.

      Expired

      The software is installed but not yet activated. The evaluation period is over. You’re unable to use the software until you activate it.

      Unknown

      The software’s status is unknown.

  2. Press Add.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate SMART Notebook software using the product key.

To view product keys

  1. Select Help > Check for Updates and Activation.

    OR

    Select Start > All Programs > SMART Technologies > SMART Tools > SMART Product Update.

    The SMART Product Update window appears.

  2. Select Tools > View Product Keys.

    The Product Keys dialog box appears.

  3. Press OK when you’re done viewing the product keys.

    Note 

    Alternatively, you can view the product keys for a single product by pressing the product’s name in the SMART Product Update window, and then pressing View product key.
