Getting started with your SMART Board 400 series interactive whiteboard

Using your SMART Board 400 series interactive whiteboard, you can write, draw and erase digital ink, manipulate objects and browse content on the screen.

Writing, drawing and erasing digital ink

Using the Floating Tools toolbar (see Using the Floating Tools toolbar) and the interactive whiteboard pen, you can write or draw digital ink over SMART Notebook software and other programs.

To write or draw digital ink

  1. Press Pen in the Floating Tools toolbar.

  2. Pick up the interactive whiteboard pen.

  3. Write or draw on the screen.

    Tip 

    Don’t rest your elbow or the palm of your hand on the screen while you’re writing.

To erase digital ink

  1. Press Eraser in the Floating Tools toolbar, and then select one of the available eraser sizes.

  2. Move your finger over the digital ink you want to erase.

Manipulating objects

Objects include icons, buttons, links and other components of programs that appear on your screen. You can manipulate these objects using your interactive whiteboard as described below.

To select or clear the selection of an object

To double-click an object

To right-click an object

  1. Press Right-Click in the Floating Tools toolbar.

  2. Press the object.

To move an object

  1. Press and hold the object.

  2. Keeping your finger on the screen, slowly move the object.

  3. When you reach the position you want to move the object to, release your finger.
