Changing mouse and gesture settings

Your interactive product is an input device like a mouse or touch pad. You can change your interactive product’s mouse and gesture settings to better suit how you and other users use your interactive product.

Note 

These settings aren’t available for LightRaise projectors.

To change mouse and gesture settings

  1. Press the SMART Board iconSMART Board icon in the notification area, and then select SMART Settings.

    Note 

    If your computer isn’t currently connected to an interactive product, the SMART Board icon includes an X in its lower-right cornerSMART Board icon with X.

  2. Press SMART Hardware Settings.

    If your computer is connected to more than one interactive product, the upper area of the SMART Settings window displays an image for each interactive product. Press the image of the interactive product you want to change settings for.

  3. Select Mouse and Gesture Settings in the drop-down list.

  4. Move the Double-click Zone slider to specify how far apart you can press the screen to perform a double click.

  5. Select check boxes to enable features:

    Enable Mouse Assist

    Enable Mouse Assist, which determines the location of a window’s Close button, scroll bars, resize handles and Help buttons, and makes it easier for you to press them.

     

    Enable Hover

    Perform some functions without touching the screen. For example, you can hover over an icon to display a description of the icon.

    Refer to your interactive product’s specifications (available from smarttech.com/support) to determine if it supports Hover mode.

    Multitouch Mode

    Allow more than one person to touch the interactive product at the same time.

    Refer to your interactive product’s specifications (available from smarttech.com/support) to determine if it supports Multitouch mode.

    Enable Multitouch Gestures

    Enable multitouch gestures.

    Refer to your interactive product’s specifications (available from smarttech.com/support) to determine if it supports multitouch gestures.
    Enable Single-Touch Gestures

    Enable single-touch gestures.

     

    Enable Pop-Up Messages

    Display pop-up messages, such as the right-click and Restore Writing messages.

     

    Enable Touch Recognition

    Enable Touch Recognition, which enables you to pick up a pen tray pen, and then write, select or erase without replacing the pen.

    Touch Recognition is available for select interactive products only. Determine if your interactive display supports Touch Recognition.

    Your interactive product interprets your intent when you press the screen, based on the size of the contact area. You can customize Touch Recognition’s sensitivity to suit your style of pressing the screen.

    If you’re using a SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboard and you want any touch on the interactive whiteboard’s surface to register as a specific tool, such as a pen, eraser, or Select tool, regardless of the size of the contact area, you can enable the lockable pen option.

  6. Press OK to close the SMART Settings window.
