Using the Pass Control feature

Use the Pass Control feature to allow individual students to control the desktop and call the class’s attention to a specific area of the workspace. Neither you nor other students can make changes to the workspace, and the class sees only the area of the workspace that appears on the screen of the student who has control.

Tip

To control the workspace yourself, use the Follow Me feature.

To use Pass Control

  1. Tap the SharingCollaboration tab tab.

    The Sharing pane appears

  2. Tap Start Pass Control.

Teachers: The Pass control window appears. Choose a student to pass control to and tap Pass Control.

When you return to the workspace, a Following [student name] message appears at the top of the workspace and you see the area of the workspace that the student directs the class to. You can still access the Sharing and Messaging tabs.

Students: If your teacher has given you control of the workspace, a You have control message appears beside the Sharing tab. The whole class sees whatever you focus on in the workspace.

If you don’t have control of the workspace, the tools and tabs disappear from the workspace and you see what the student who’s in control of the workspace sees. Following [student name] appears at the top of the workspace. You can’t edit the workspace or view a different area of the workspace while you’re following this student.

  3. Teachers: Tap Pause to take control of the workspace yourself. Tap Next to pass control of the workspace to a different student. To allow students to return to another area of the workspace, tap End.

Students: Tap End to return control of the desktop to the teacher.
